Enough hype -- please!

You've heard the same things I have: "You can't control mobile device proliferation." "Most large organizations are being forced to create BYOD programs." "You need to let new employees work with their own devices and use social networking sites if you want to recruit them."

Poppycock, Rubbish, Nonsense, I say.

In fact you can reject BYOD (financial services firms do) and if you decide to support BYOD, you can control mobile device use. As for recruiting new employees, let me reply with one word -- Really? With over 10% unemployment, are entry-level workers really going to walk away because a company won't let them use their iPads?

So how do you control mobile device and for that matter, social media use. Let me paraphrase a number of conversations I've had with CISOs on this topic.
