Roger Thompson, Chief Emerging Threats Researcher at ICSA Labs, wrote Australia's first antivirus in 1987. He's been tracking the growth of viruses and other types of malware ever since. I caught up with Thompson at the Kaspersky Reviewers Roundup in San Francisco, to get his views on the current and coming state of malware and malware protection. Thompson sees three simple criteria as necessary for the spread and success of malware on any operating system.
